Listeners fail after project key change

Custom listeners with a project mapping stop functioning when the project change key.
There was no indication in the Listener screen nor any visible log message to indicate that there was an invalid configuration.

If the listeners can't be configured to point to the unchanging project ID, then at least there should be some visual warnings.
