Create a few custom fields
Set values for all these fields in 1 issue so they show on the view screen
Set a behaviour to make one of them ReadOnly
If you go to the view screen and try to edit the readOnly field it forces you to use the pencil icon to open the edit window and will set the field to read only correctly.
If you then go back to the view screen and this time inline edit another custom field first, once you save the new value, you will then be able to inline edit and save new values for the field that should be ReadOnly
